Icon was the undisputed star of the 2015 Public Relations Institute of Australia's (PRIA) Victorian State Awards for Excellence, winning two categories and taking a further six awards.
Icon’s landmark integrated communications and digital campaign 'Stand Up For Farmers' for NSW Farmers, won the 'Digital and Social' category. The campaign also received recognition as Highly Commended in the 'Community Relations' and 'Integrated Marketing and Communication Campaign Strategy' categories, as well as being Commended in the 'Public Affairs' category.
'Stand Up For Farmers' provided voters in regional and rural NSW a platform to voice their concerns and ensure they were well represented by political candidates. The campaign achieved a landmark agreement by the victorious NSW State Government to deliver on all of the organisation's proposed policies.
The 'Love Food, Hate Waste' campaign for Sustainability Victoria won the 'Sustainability/Corporate Social Responsibility' category, was Highly Commended for the 'Government Sponsored Campaigns' and 'Digital and Social' categories, and Commended for the 'Content Marketing' category.
The campaign aims to raise awareness and drive behaviour change around food waste in Victorian households by highlighting how much we waste and how it can be avoided - avoidable food waste comprises 23% of all household waste in Victoria, while general food waste is fast approaching 1 million tonnes.
The two campaigns will now move on to the national PRIA Golden Target Awards to be held in Tasmania this October.
The unprecedented feat was the latest in a string of recent awards for Icon including the Web Marketing Association's 'Outstanding Achievement in Web Development' award for our work with the Murdoch Children's Research Institute.
Last week Icon was recognised by the CSS Design Awards for Kinetic Super's newly launched website. Icon has also been nominated for three national awards at the Australian Marketing Institute's Awards for Marketing Excellence in Melbourne next month, including 'Brand Extension', 'Content Marketing', and 'Marketing Communications - Business to Consumer'.
Icon’s Group Strategy Director, Joanne Painter was ecstatic about the huge haul. "While it's always lovely to be recognised by your peers, I am delighted that our clients Sustainability Victoria and NSW Farmers are also being recognised for excellence. Great campaigns are the result of teamwork and collaboration between agency and client – which is what these awards really celebrate."
"To receive so many awards, particularly on top of three national AMI award nominations, speaks to the remarkable skill across our teams and the power of Icon’s integrated model to produce consistently excellent work across digital, creative and communications."
