Icon has proudly launched a new website for the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre (Peter Mac) to match the hospital’s new residence at the state-of-the-art Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre building.

Peter Mac’s wide community of patients, researchers and health practitioners can now use a brand new website with vastly improved design, structure, content and navigation, accessible across desktop, tablet and smartphone devices.

The website was launched on June 22, the day before the historic move of Peter Mac’s inpatients into the billion-dollar, purpose-built centre. Icon was awarded the project after successfully launching new websites for Murdoch Children’s Research Institute and The Royal Melbourne Hospital.

By using a well-tested stakeholder engagement methodology, user journey mapping, and structured content porting, Icon’s account management and client teams were able to stage delivery in a logical and easy-to-follow manner. Intensive scoping and preliminary consultation with key user groups was critical for such a large project.

Icon’s Managing Director of Digital, Chris Dodds commented: “Careful planning with room for agile design and development sprints meant we could hit a fixed deadline without compromising the end result. Our project team stepped up time after time to meet project milestones, and the end result is a testament to six months of passion, innovation and a commitment to excel. We’re looking forward to supporting the digital and comms teams as they extend and adapt the site for future requirements.”

Peter Mac’s Director of Digital Strategy, Jeremy Macvean said: “The new website that Icon designed and built is a great new digital home for our Peter Mac community, which will facilitate and strengthen the centre’s strategy of providing world-class cancer care, accelerating discovery and research and focusing on cancer prevention and wellbeing. Our values of innovation, excellence and compassion come to life in this new website.”
