On Sunday (18 October) Saltwater Coast’s residential development opened its gates to the latest attraction in Point Cook: a crocodile themed park surrounded by stunning re-claimed wetlands.

And there was quite the crowd to see what all the aquatic fuss was about, including local Saltwater Coast residents, families from across Melbourne, reptile handlers and magicians. Even Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles turned up.

Over the past few months Icon.pr has been working closely with its client AVEO, the developer of Saltwater Coast; sales agent Oliver Hume; and creative marketing agency Printcess to make the day the scaly success that it was. Everybody involved set out to provide a fun, family park launch that would build the local community and showcase Saltwater Coast’s best assets to potential new residents.

The launch surpassed everybody’s expectations with more than 4,000 people from across Melbourne spending the day cradling crocodiles, splashing about in the new water features and exploring the estate’s wetlands and display village. This was four-times the target number of guests, and the day has been hailed as one of the biggest opening events any land estate has ever seen.

The success of Crocodile Park has been attributed to aggressive and targeted publicity of the launch; with efforts from Icon.pr securing earned and paid media coverage for the event. These included radio, online, press as well as organising the popular guest appearance of Nickelodeon’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Icon.pr also supported Printcess who promoted the launch with activations, social media, creative billboards, direct mailings as well as the organisation of the day’s event.

The fun isn’t over just yet either with local media set to report the huge success of Crocodile Park over the coming week.
